SRS Player Verbally Commits to Play for Humboldt State

Congratulations to Mary Swisher!

Mary Swisher - Humboldt State

San Ramon Soccer would like to congratulate Mary Swisher on verbally committing to play college soccer at Humboldt State University! Mary currently plays on the AZURI 99G team coached by Luke Enna. She is completing her junior year at California High School. Her first semester at Humboldt will begin in August 2017.

Mary has spent her entire youth soccer career with San Ramon Soccer.  She currently plays the holding midfielder position on her AZURI team.  Mary is a multi-sport athlete who competes in both cross country and track at her high school.

Mary felt that Humboldt State was a good fit for her both academically and athletically.  When asked about why she chose to verbally commit to HSU, she said:

“The soccer program suits the level I want to play and the environment I want to play in.  I respect Coach Paul Karver and I feel we work well together.  The school is extremely inviting and has a good reputation for education, which is the major I am interested in.  Furthermore, the school itself is beautiful and I feel like I fit in there."

Humboldt State is a public university located in the northern California city of Arcata.  The university’s athletic teams, known as the “Jacks” (short for Lumberjacks), compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) against schools in California as far south as San Diego.

With only 10% of youth female soccer players advancing to play collegiate soccer*, Mary’s verbal commitment to play at Humboldt State is a remarkable accomplishment. We look forward to watching her play for the Jacks and adding her name to our college Alumni page in the near future.
